Obtaining an eMPN User ID for School Users
To obtain a user ID for the Electronic Master Promissory Note (MPN) system, you must submit a request letter by mail or fax, so that the Department of Education has a signature on file. This letter must be printed on your school’s letterhead and include the following information:
• School’s name
• School’s Direct Loan ID;
• School’s Third Party Servicer (if applicable);
• User’s first name;
• User’s last name;
• Keyword – user’s mother’s maiden name (this keyword identifier will be used for security purposes to identify an administrator if he or she forgets the web site password);
• User’s work telephone number;
• User’s e-mail address;
• User’s job title;
• User’s work address;
• User’s work fax number;
• User’s signature; and
• Approving authority’s name, title, and signature (e.g., Financial Aid Administrator).
If mailing the user ID request, please send the signed request letter (printed on your school’s letterhead) to:

The Electronic MPN Security Administrator will send the user name and password to the e-mail address provided in the request letter. For security purposes, the Electronic MPN Security Administrator will send the user name and password in separate e-mails. The password is secure information and should not be shared with anyone.
If your school uses a Third Party Servicer and would like the Third Party Servicer to have access to view Electronic MPN information, the user ID request must be completed as described above.
